Community Involvement Hours
For the 2022-23 school year, the Ministry of Education has reinstated the 40-hour community involvement graduation requirement. It is expected that all students should be working towards the completion of the 40-hour requirement prior to graduation. The Ministry is allowing continued flexibility for all secondary students to earn community involvement hours in 2022-23. Community involvement opportunities should not interfere with course work/requirements, but they may occur inside or outside of the school day.
Ways to complete community service requirements for the 2022-23 school year include:
· volunteer opportunities that meet with all local public health unit requirements
· virtual or phone volunteering
· performing duties around the student's household
· a maximum of 10 hours from paid employment (applies only to students 14 and older and requires the completion of a reflection exercise in myBlueprint)
