Hockey Academy

Open to students in Grade 9 and 10, the Holy Cross Hockey Canada Skills Academy will help student athletes

improve and enrich their individual hockey skills, while developing their personal fitness. This course will emphasize building character through achieving both athletic and scholastic success. On ice sessions led by highly trained staff, strength and conditioning designed to maximize physical attributes, and a focus on leadership, citizenship and career exploration will position the student athlete to achieve their individual goals.
 

Delivery Model

In each school year, students enrolled in the academy will earn 1 phys. ed. credit for the course associated with the hockey academy. The course is broken down as follows:
  • 50-60 hours on ice time dedicated to skill development that is transferable to many other activities and learning situations;
  • 50-60 hours will focus on health and nutrition, decision making, personal fitness, and various other activities which may include;  Workoutfloorball, low organizational games, group activities etc. Currently, the academy runs from September to February in each school year in period 1 or 2. The hockey academy course will be 1 of 4 courses in a student's typical course load in semester one.

 

 

 

Feessledge hockey

The fee for the program in 2023-24 is $135, with full payment due at registration in addition to the HCC student activity fee. For this fee, students will receive a Hockey Canada Skills Academy jersey and training shirt.

Registration

Students will register for the Hockey Academy when completing course selection in January/February of each school year.
