Busing

Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services (STS) is the transportation consortium responsible for planning school bus services for all schools in the LDCSB. School Administration does NOT have the authority to add passengers, change routes or pick-up/drop-off points, or transfer students from one bus to another. This is done through STS. For more information regarding busing or for forms requesting a change in bus route, please visit their website at www.mybigyellowbus.ca.

Not all students are eligible to access busing in order to get to school. Bus service is provided to students who reside greater than 3.2 km from their Board-designated school. For "Safe School" purposes all students who have the privilege of transportation MUST show a current Holy Cross student photo ID card whenever requested by the driver.

Any problems with student behaviour on school-related bus trips that are reported to the school will be dealt with by the school administration. A failure to maintain appropriate behaviour on the bus will result in consequences which may include the loss of bus privileges.

CONDUCT ON THE SCHOOL BUS
School bus transportation is a privilege. School Board policy dictates that school busing is provided only to transport students from home to school, and back again. Abuse of this privilege may result in temporary or permanent loss of transportation use. As a privilege, it demands observance of expectations demanded of any reasonable, well-behaved student. Students must carry their photo I.D. with them at all times. For insurance and liability reasons, you may only ride your designated bus to and from school. While on the bus, students must:

i)   Remain seated at all times.
ii)   Not interrupt or distract the bus driver.
iii) Refrain from any yelling or use of profanity.
iv) Keep windows closed, and heads and arms inside the bus.
v)   Obey all directions given by the school bus driver.
vi) Not touch the emergency exits.
vii) Refrain from transporting large objects such as hockey equipment.

Failure to comply with any of the above will result in the revocation of school bus privileges.
