Communications Technology

Communications technology courses focus on technology from a media perspective.  Students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in the areas of live, recorded, and graphic communications. These areas may include TV, video, and movie production; radio and audio production; print and graphic communications; photography; digital imaging; broadcast journalism; and interactive new media. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues and will explore college and university programs and career opportunities in the various communications technology fields.

 

The HCC Communications Technology lab is made up of Mac computers which are best suited for graphic design and video editing. Students have access to the Adobe Suite programs including Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, to name a few.

Mac computers have generally always been stable, reliable, innovative, and run some fantastic professional software.
 
The classroom also has a separate production lab where students are able to video in front of a green screen which gives the creator many options when shooting video. The production lab also hosts a recoding booth where students can build beats, records pod casts and radio shows etc.
